Protecting your Future has Never been More Crucial

With the announcement last week that the Northern Ireland House Price Index rose by almost 6% in the final quarter of 2016, 360 Protection Choices is urging the Northern Ireland public to protect their borrowings and ensure that they and their loved ones are adequately protected for the future.

Mortgage Specialist for The Chandler Group, Sam Mulholland has seen a steady increase in the level of borrowing in the past three years.

“We are seeing a lot of confidence in the housing market at the moment, people are focused on buying houses again and the level of borrowing is definitely on the increase. In the last three years, I’ve seen mortgages rise by around 30% and our average mortgage would now be £140,000. With house prices rising, this figure will only go up.”

As the figures continue to rise, the time has never been more crucial for people to protect their future. Research carried out by financial experts, Scottish Widows reveals that as little as 50% of people in the UK have life insurance, just 17% have critical illness cover and even more worrying, only 7% have income protection.

Sam has found the same problem here in Northern Ireland: “It always surprises me when I meet clients who are coming in to re-negotiate their mortgages that only half of them will have proper life cover. People may have taken out a life insurance policy when getting their mortgage, simply because they were obliged to by the lender. But in most cases it’s not even the best cover for them and they have very little knowledge of what they’re actually covered for.”

At Michael Chandler Insurance, we believe it’s vital to protect the things that you value most. Our goal is to provide you with complete peace of mind regarding the financial future of your family. We will take the time to explain all the different benefits and limitations of any cover we recommend.
